Today, we are throwing it back to last Friday….okay so that’s not really a throw back, but it was a night worthy of recognition. Last Friday, Crystal and I got to join up with another mommy friend of ours for a Mom’s Night Out. All you mommas out there know that time out is not as easy as it once was. We are lucky, our husbands are both super supportive and always push us to get out and have fun, but it still doesn’t happen very often. In fact, this night was planned for a month and we still had a few friends that couldn’t make it. We have been trying to plan one a month. It is surprising how hard it is to stick to one night a month, but we are trying to plan with a group 7 of us all with children.
Our big night out consisted of a crazy evening of mall walking, some returns and even some tequila shots!
Wait, I’m getting a little ahead of myself. First, of course, I was late. Between the hubby and the baby and then driving 45 minutes, being on time just didn’t happen. I tried, but yeah, no. To be fair, being on time has never been my strong suit. We had originally made a different plan for our night out, but with many of our mom friends unable to make it, we are holding off on that plan for a while. We went back and forth on what to do and decided some mall walking would get us all a few extra steps before dinner, plus we could do it in yoga pants. Hello, yoga pants and dinner/drinks WINNING!
By the time I got to the mall Crystal and our friend had already done some walking and shopping. I got there and we did a little more before heading to Cheesecake Factory. The wait was like an hour for 3 people and with little ones waiting at home, that was not going to be the best plan. Instead, we checked out the self-seating at the bar. There were no tables open, but we had great timing as there were three spots opening up as we walked up. We each decided we wanted a fun cocktails and then some apps to share. It took us about three years to decide on our drinks and about two more to decide on food. Why are we women so indecisive sometimes? You would have thought we were making a serious life choice here!
So how did we end up with tequila? It was not a part of the original plan, but who says no to free Patron?
As we were sitting there making our major choice on food and drink for the evening, and talking about our kids and our husbands the two men next to us started up a conversation with us. We were polite and said hello, again mentioned husbands and kids and then started to enjoy our cocktails. Well, I guess they really wanted to have a conversation because the next thing you know, they were asking us if we wanted shots of Patron. At first we said no, but they were very persistent and Crystal and I have a sort of history with Patron and tequila in general from our younger years. A long time ago we made a deal with each other to never turn down a free shot of Patron and you just can’t go breaking promises to your best friends!! And so, for the first time in a long time, we had a shot of tequila, salt, lime and all! After this, they asked about our kids and we had a nice conversation about our wild and crazy mom’s night out until they left to catch their Uber.
Being the moms we are, and feeling a bit old and tired, we finished our apps and cocktails and headed out to be home before midnight. Our “wild night” may have been a bit different from the last time we were taking shots, but I don’t think any of us would trade it for the world. And who knows, it may have been just crazy enough to inspire next month’s mom’s night out to be a little more like “the good old days”.
What are some of your favorite ways to get out of the house?
Peace and Love,
