Over spring break this year, my momma, L and I took a little trip down to Myrtle beach for some fun, sun and sand. It was a great week, and my little man loved the every part of the beach. With some inspiration from Crystal and Pinterest I decided to commemorate the trip with a fun craft! I decided making “sandprints” (sand handprints) made with sand clay would be the perfect craft because, 1. it would be super cute, 2. it would be easy and 3. I had everything I needed! What more could you want in a toddler craft?!?! (more…)
Wow, okay first, how have I not written anything since April 12?!?! Believe it or not, I actually have a few drafts floating around that I want to complete soon! I promise I will try to be better, but I have been working hard to reflect on my priorities in life and I think I am finally at a place where I am feeling a little more comfortable.
In other news, I accomplished something two weeks ago that I never thought I could do, I FINISHED a 10k!!!!!! Back in January Crystal asked me to try and run the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler with her. (check out her recap here) I couldn’t quite commit to that but she managed to convince me to train to run the Pikes Peek 10k with her and some of her family. She sold it as being a small race with only a few hills so I decided to give it a try. (more…)
Last week was International Women’s Day, and while we are a week late, we are still into celebrating strong, creative and supportive women! We are so lucky to have so many women in our lives who are just that. As small business owners, there have been a few people who have really helped us out this past year or so, and some people we have come to admire and look up to. We have listed a few women who rock below for you to check out. They are really talented at what they do, and are willing to answer questions and give love whenever we have asked! (more…)
By now, you know I am a working mom. I am a special education teacher. Being a teacher is a huge part of my identity, it is more than what I do, it is part of who I am. Other than a mermaid (which I still want to be!) I have never wanted to have any other career. My students mean the world for me and I love each of them dearly and the people I work with are like family. I even have a work wife! I LOVE my job. I can’t imagine my life without being a teacher. In fact, this post has been sitting in the draft folder for several weeks because I was afraid people would read the title and get the wrong idea. What if people thought i didn’t love what I do? So, that is why I feel the need to explain why I love my job, but not going to work.
You may be asking yourself how can that be? How can you love a job, but hate going to work? Aren’t they are the same thing?
Those that know me know I love animals, all of them. I respect all animals and their place in our world, but there are some I am fine with observing from a distance. Namely, spiders, bugs, and reptiles, except geckos. Geckos are okay with me, because to me, they are a symbol of love and a message from heaven.
Before you think me too crazy, let me explain. You see, a few years ago, my mom and I spend an amazing spring break in Port Orange, Florida right outside of Daytona Beach. This was a place we had spend many amazing weeks visiting my Great Aunt Patty, Uncle Ralph, my cousins Ashleigh and Christine and Christine’s sweet son Aidan. At the time, my sweet Aunt Patty was undergoing treatment for cancer. For some people, this would have brought them down, but not her. She laughed and joked and was the same amazing woman I had grown up to admire. (more…)
Well, the weeks sure do go faster when there is no work or school on Monday! We have been enjoying some unseasonably warm weather here in Maryland and some great time with family to go along with it! In addition to extra family time, which is at the top of both our lists here is what we love this week:
This wagon, (pictured here with the canopy off and with his hat on because the sun was going down and I, being a first time mom, of course freaked out about him getting cold) L got the chance to ride in H’s at the Christmas tree farm this year and he LOVED it! For Christmas, my parents go him his own and he has the best time going for a stroll around the neighborhood in it on these nice warm days! It is a bit on the expensive side, but it is worth it as we have already gotten a ton of use out of it!
This twist on our usual tacos by the Garlic Diaries. We usually use the taco shells from a box or tortillas but the lettuce makes it a bit more healthy. We did add some extra fajita style peppers and onions in. It is perfect for us because my husband loves tacos and we have them about once a week! (It’s even 21 Day Fix approved) (more…)
Happy hump day! We hope you had a love-filled Valentine’s Day with your friends, family, and little ones! We sure did! One of our favorite things to do is spread the love, so it’s one of our favorite days! H & L both took Valentine’s for their daycare buddies – bubbles and boogie wipes – staples in both our households. We also shared the heart-shaped cookies Crystal made with our coworkers. We even had a bit of a sweet surprise ourselves… (more…)
Happy Hump Day! It has been a long few days, but the weekend is in sight! We want to share a few more things we are loving this week! But first, an update! The dessert recipe Crystal posted last week, yeah she made it for a little get together this weekend and lets just say, people were licking the serving dish!! AMAZING! In case you missed it, you can find it here. For real, if you are looking for something to make for Valentine’s Day, it’s perfect! Filled with chocolaty gooey goodness, and perfect for toddlers’ little hands. Harper even helped with the Oreo placement! (more…)
