Recently, Crystal and I were able to spend some time with our friends for a little girls weekend and baby shower for our dear friend. As all new moms, she is a little nervous for all the changes this little bundle of joy will bring. She is especially nervous for the first few weeks. The time when she and her husband learn to adjust routines to accommodate a new human life. She asked us what our best advice for bringing home baby. We both agreed, when you bring home the baby, you have to put your family first.

Picture this, its 8:00 on Sunday night and I am sitting on my couch trying as hard as I can to forget about the fact that Monday morning is fast approaching. Then I realize, once again, I didn’t make it to the grocery store this weekend. Luckily, I have enough food in the house to scrape together and make breakfast and lunch for the tiny human and myself. A few choice words run through my head as I think about braving the grocery store on a Monday, after work, with a toddler. (If you have done this before, you know it is not for the faint of heart) I know I need to have a battle plan, a strong one. Happy New Year!
Happy New Year! I bet you are expecting me to write about some list of resolutions I have made for 2017. Well, sorry, not gonna happen. Resolutions are great for some people, but I am not one of them. I always find them really motivating for a about a week then I fall off the bandwagon and just end up disappointed in myself. I feel like, for me at least, goals and intentions are more meaningful than a resolution. This year I decided to try One Little Word®.
What Is One Little Word® and how does it work?
The idea of One Little Word® is you pick one word to be your focus for the year. The idea is that this word will help you be a better you. This leaves you a little room for interpretation and gives you something to self-reflect on. Some people pick a word for their professional life and a word for their personal life, but I have chosen one word for it all. (more…)
